The Tribe of Judah. After the removal of most of the Israelites from the Land there remained a remnant of the Tribe of Judah, with some from Benjamin and Levi, as well as a few from other tribes. Judah being the dominant tribe remained until the loss of the Kingdom of Judah, in about 630 BC, to the Babylonians. After that the remaining few that returned from captivity, predominatly Judah, became known as the Jews and have remained known as such ever since. |
